Seven Year Old Girl Medevaced after fall at Kaihalulu Beach in Hana

At 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, emergency crews in Hana responded to Kaihalulu Beach, more commonly known as, “Red Sand Beach” for a child that fell from the trail leading to the popular beach.

Police officers arrived and found that a 7-year-old female had fallen about 12 feet from a ledge where the trail nears the beach. The girl struck her head on the rocks and had momentarily lost consciousness before regaining it a short time later. Firefighters and paramedics arrived shortly afterward and treated the girl for her injuries. The girl was eventually carried out by her father to an ambulance on Uakea Road.

Paramedics then drove the girl to the Hana Airport and transferred her to a helicopter medevac that transported her to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

The girl was with her parents and are vacationing on Maui from La Baule, France.
