MFD Conducted Three Rescues Across the Island on Sunday

Nakalele, MAUI – On Sunday, 10/07/18, at approximately 1221 hours, Engine 11 (Napili Station) and Rescue 10 (Kahului Station) were dispatched to the blow hole area at Nakalele for a 34 year old male visitor who injured his left wrist and ankle in a fall. Engine 11 personnel hiked down to the injured male, treated injuries, and prepared the patient to be air-lifted. Rescue 10 personnel arrived in Air 1 and delivered the male to waiting medics.

Waihe’e, MAUI – On Sunday, 10/07/18, at approximately 1251 hours, Engine 1 (Wailuku Station) and Rescue 10 (Kahului Station) were dispatched to the area known as Swinging Bridges in Waihee Valley for a report of 9 people trapped due to the stream rising quickly. Engine 1 personnel hiked in to the area and located the 9 Maui residents who were on the other side of the heavily flowing stream. The residents were unable to cross the bridge due to it being washed out. Rescue 10 arrived in Air 1 and air-lifted all parties to safety. There were no injuries to report.

I’ao Valley, MAUI – On Sunday, 10/07/18, at approximately 1323 hours, Hazmat 10 (Kahului Station) and Rescue 10 (Kahului) were dispatched to Kepaniwai Park in I’ao Valley. The quick-rising river had trapped 14 residents and 2 visitors. Hazmat 10 personnel set up a landing zone in the parking lot. Rescue 10 personnel in Air 1 arrived and air-lifted all parties to safety. There were no injuries to report.
