California Visitor Found Unresponsive off Napili Bay Dies

At 11:54 a.m. on Friday, Maui firefighters were dispatched to reports of two swimmers in distress on the north side of Napili Bay. Engine 11 (Napili) and Jetski 11 from DT Fleming Beach responded.

On scene, crews found an unresponsive male already on shore with CPR being administered by bystanders. Fire personnel took over CPR efforts. In the meantime, Jetski 11 (Ocean Safety Personnel) brought a female swimmer to shore. It is reported that the couple were swimming and experienced difficulty returning to shore. Despite lifesaving efforts, the 66 year old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim required no further medical attention.

The couple are reported to be visitors from California.
