2014 Maui Mayoral candidate Beau Hawkes, 34, was sentenced to a 30 day jail term on Monday for disregarding orders from police offers and driving away from a traffic stop last year.
Judge Richard Bissen didn’t seem to buy any of Hawkes reasoning or excuses as he handed down his sentence. According to testimony at his trial in December, Hawkes said he didn’t need a driver license because he was a private citizen and refused to give his name before driving off. The court found Hawkes guilty as charged.
