Brown Water Advisories Issued for Two Maui Bays

Two Brown Water Advisories have been issued for locations on Maui.

The Department of Health on Thursday issued notices for Honolua Bay and Kaopala Bay.

Heavy rain has resulted in stormwater runoff entering into coastal waters.

The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris. Not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff, however, if the water is brown stay out.

In addition, the public is reminded to continue to practice good personal hygiene and follow-up with your primary care physician if you have any health concerns.

In addition, the Brown Water Advisories at Kihei’s Cove Park and in South Maui South from Maui Mokapu to Maluaka have been canceled.
