DWS: Potential Water Outages in Waikapu, Kehalani Mauka, Upper Wailuku Heights

Effective immediately, the Department of Water Supply is asking all consumers in the Waikapu, Kehalani Mauka (above Honoapiilani Highway), and Upper Wailuku Heights areas to cease all unnecessary water use until further notice.

DWS continues to experience very high consumption in the Waikapu/Wailuku area and Department of Water Supply water tanks are being depleted. The public’s immediate reduced water usage may prevent service interruptions.

Water tanker trucks will be available at:
Wailuku Heights Park (off of South Alu Drive) and Hookahewai Street in Waikapu.

To help the DWS minimize service interruptions, the public’s cooperation is needed by doing the following:

• Do not water your lawn or irrigate ground cover
• If you need to wash the car, go to the car wash. Most of the car washes on Maui are fitted with recirculating water
• Check in and around homes for leaks

Please call the 24-hour hotline at 270-7633 if there are any questions.
