Heavy Rains Prompt Flood Advisory for Maui

Thursday is forecasted to have scattered showers favoring windward and mauka areas in the morning with winds 15-25 mph out of the east-northeast.

The highs are anticipated to be in the lower 90’s for Central Maui, upper 80’s for windward and West Maui with mostly sunny skies in the afternoon.  Winds become lighter this weekend.

At 5:01 a.m., radar indicated heavy rain near Honokohau. Rain was falling at a rate of one to three inches per hour.

Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to…Kahului, Kapalua, Honokohau, Kahakuloa, Puunene, Haliimaile, Pauwela, Paia, Makawao, Wailuku, Waiehu, and Haiku-Pauwela.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Maui Island, in effect until 8 a.m. this morning.
