The brush fire that began last Wednesday has been officially declared 100 percent contained as of Monday morning.
Maui Fire Department officials say the Department was able to use a new technology to more accurately confirm total acreage burned at 4,600
acres, following a 4,100 acre initial estimate.
The public is advised to stay out of the burn area because of the inherent hazards that exist. Officials say there are still areas of smoldering kiawe and vegetation, but located well within the control lines.
Crews will continue to make periodic checks of the area.
