“Hawaii Five-O” has left a lasting impression on pop culture, whether it was the original Jack Lord series that ran for 12 seasons. Or the rebooted series starring Alex O’ Loughlin and Scott Caan, that ran for 10 seasons. It gave us 22 years of sun, sand, arrests, car chases, shootouts, friendships, partnerships and aloha. “Hawaii Five-O” will be a …

Theater Review: Out of Order

Director David Belew’s rollicking production of Ray Cooney’s “Out of Order” has just opened at the ProArts Theater in Kihei (at Azeka’s Marketplace). It’s a naughty, fast paced and wildly funny comedy for adults only and full of memorable set pieces. Theater Review: Xanadu

Kalani Whitford and Camille Romero’s production of “Xanadu” is a blast, both a robust, candy-colored jukebox musical/comedy and an irreverent parody of one. Theater Review: Matilda The Musical

Jennifer Roses’s production of “Matilda The Musical” is enormously funny but also dark and complex. Based on Roald Dahl’s novel and maintaining the author’s prickly wit and cracked vision, this unusual musical is full of surreal delights, catchy numbers and strong performances. As quirky and wild as this gets, I found the story to be engrossing and the message overall …

A-Ron’s Jukebox: Coldplay “Everyday Life” – Album Review

Coldplay’s inventive magnum opus eighth album “Everyday Life” is proof that they can be more adventurous and creative than they’re often given credit for. Lead front man Chris Martin creates an immersive listening experience with sharp social commentary rock anthems in the style of U2 and a worldly sound inspired by Paul Simon.  One of my favorite bands, British rock band and …
